Assistant Operators Responsibilities

PRIMARY Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews daily using the Interview Questionnaire QR code and the Interview Protocol. You must update the Interview Schedule immediately after each interview.


  • Maintain staff goals by hiring at least the minimum number that you are deficient each week. If your goal is 12 and you are at 10, you should hire the best 2 applicants this week. You should always close the gap on your goal weekly.


  • Ensure all new applicants follow the On-boarding plan. You will have to schedule this to make sure it happens. Each Wednesday, review all new-hires, put them on the schedule and follow the On-boarding plan. Make sure that the trainer has watched the videos: How to Onboard for Trainers and Training the Basics.


  • All new hires should be evaluated daily using the New-Hire Evaluation QR Code. You should review this each morning, and give guidance to the trainer of that new-hire before their next shift.


  • Each employee should be evaluated monthly following the How to conduct and Evaluation Protocol.


  • Each week, the schedule should be reordered, and the staff ranked according to ability and effort. See the How to rank your staff protocol.


  • Every Monday from 3-5, you should be scheduled to sit down and make a schedule for your department using the Scheduling Game Theory.  This should be completed and submitted to your GM by 5pm on Mondays. The schedule should have excellent operational coverage, follow the template, and make 18% labor.


  • Every Wednesday at 10am, you should sit down and complete your Assistant Operator Weekly Duties. You’ll need to update wheniwork, the interview log, and the White Board. Post a photo of the whiteboard to the Assistant Operator group in Workplace.


  • Each day you should review all of the Shift Lead posts, and comment and give guidance on your shift-lead subordinates. 


  • Along with the manager, you should conduct a shift-lead meeting at least monthly to provide general guidance and instructions for your shift-leads using the Monthly Shift-Lead Meeting Plan.



Secondary Responsibilities

  • You must act as the Shift Lead on all shifts that you work unless supervising a subordinate shift-lead.
  • Once a week, you can supervise a subordinate shift-lead to review how well they do.
